The number of people capable of working in Latvia continues to decrease, so many companies face greater or lesser difficulties in attracting quality employees. These challenges affect not only our country, but also the neighboring Lithuania and Estonia. That is why employers should be able to offer not only a competitive salary, but also other bonuses when creating motivational programs.
The international parcel delivery company “Venipak” was founded in 2004, offering efficient parcel and logistics solutions to companies and individuals of various sizes in the Baltic States, as well as in Poland, Germany, the USA and China. Every year, the quality of the provided services is improved by investing in e-commerce technological solutions and expanding its parcel locker network. Currently, almost a thousand parcel collection points are available in the Baltic States, and it is planned to double their numbers in the next few years. Rapid growth requires the search for new employees, so it is important to build a stable team.
Andra Runde, head of the Personnel Department of “Venipak”, says that the biggest difficulties in finding employees are with the vacancies of parcel sorters and couriers. This applies both to issues of attraction and retention, because it is difficult to find people with such qualifications in the labor market, and equivalent positions can also be performed in other companies. “Every year, we participate in the wage study organized by the company “Figure” in order to receive current data on changes in salary trends,” says A. Runde, “the high inflation, as well as the increase in the prices of energy resources, which directly affects every citizen of Latvia, also forced us to review the wages we pay.”
“Venipak” head of the Personnel Department says that every year they work on improving the well-being of employees, being proud of those employees who have been working in the company since its foundation. The main reasons for maintaining loyalty are the opportunities to grow and improve professionally, as well as the fact that colleagues have become friends over the years, forming a united team. “I invite everyone to consider the opportunity to work at Venipak, because we have an excellent team that provides support both at the start of the work process and also on a daily basis when cooperating with customers,” says A. Runde.
It should also be taken into account that the international shipping company “Venipak” has to deal with seasonality, when the biggest rush of work is in the last months of the year, because then extensive discount campaigns are implemented in e-stores, when the courier service and the parcel locker network are particularly busy. “At this time, the sales and administration team often lend help, so that all shipments are delivered to customers on time. We are happy to assume the role of Christmas elves, because packages are waiting both the big and the small, so we enjoy this joy of giving together with all the employees,” adds A. Runde.
Last year, the turnover of “Venipak” increased by 19%, the fastest growth was precisely in Latvia, where this indicator increased by 28%. Currently, the company has established nine parcel terminals in Latvia: Rēzekne, Daugavpils, Valmiera, Liepāja, Gulbene, Ventspils, Jēkabpils and Riga Region.
