When choosing a parcel service provider, 45% of respondents said that the location of parcel locker matters the most when choosing a parcel service provider, while the second most popular answer was the time of parcel delivery. This was found out in a study conducted by the international parcel delivery company “Venipak” on the habits of the population.
Out of more than a thousand respondents, the most popular answer was that location is the most important thing when choosing a parcel service provider, while 22% indicated that the time or speed of parcel delivery is important. Although so far costs have been a significant factor for Latvians, this survey found that only 18% of respondents considered this an important condition.
It is no secret that in recent years the number of parcel terminals, not only in Latvia, but in all the Baltic States, has grown significantly, so it is not surprising that only 8% of the population indicated that they had never used parcel services. Interestingly, younger respondents or people aged 18 to 39 stated that only 3% of cases had never used a parcel terminal, but older people aged 60 to 74 had chosen this answer much more often – in 15% of cases.
“Since the start of the pandemic, the number of parcel terminals across Europe has increased significantly as online shopping has become more popular due to various restrictions in stores, which means that delivery services are also becoming more in demand. People who treat postal services conservatively also more and more often decide to use parcel terminals, because they are located in easily accessible places and do not have to wait in queues to receive their parcels,” says Justas Šablinskas, the head of “Venipak” adding that a successful experience with a service provider is more important for customers, and the price comes to the background.
For example “Venipak” nearly all parcels delivers within 24 hours in all three Baltic States and it takes only some seconds to pick up the parcel from the parcel locker because there are no ques that means clients don’t need to worry about the pandemic and getting ill from other clients.
On the other hand, the speed of parcel delivery is more important for younger people under 29 years of age, which was chosen by 32% of respondents, in contrast to other age groups, which chose this answer much less often. “Venipak” is shore that speed will be very important in the time before Christmas and Black Friday or Cyber Monday when shopping is the most intense, therefor parcel lockers are good choice for those who are interested in the speed of parcels.
Over the past two years, Venipak has opened four parcel sorting terminals in various cities in Latvia, investing about half a million euros, while two million euros have been invested in the establishment and development of a parcel terminal network. In order to ensure successful growth and recognition in all Baltic countries, it was decided to create a new corporate identity by changing the brand in all Baltic countries.
