Venipak delivered over 1.2 million packages to Estonian clients last year, averaging nearly 5,000 packages per day. Last year, the most popular parcel lockers of Estonia’s largest privately-owned parcel company were in Viimsi, Võru, and near the Kristiine Center in Tallinn.
“The number of Venipak shipments in Estonia grew by 24% over the year, and by 17% across the Baltic States as a whole. In total, 12.2 million shipments were sent via Venipak in the Baltics,” said Martten Kaldvee, Head of Sales at Venipak Estonia.
The Viimsi Maxima parcel locker handled nearly 3,500 packages last year, the one at the Võru Maksimarket nearly 3,000, and the Kristiine Center parcel locker around 2,700 parcels. “We are very pleased with the warm reception of our parcel locker in Võru. Considering the size of Võru, this is an excellent result,” noted Kaldvee.
The top three were followed by parcel lockers at Haabersti Rimi in Tallinn, at Veeriku Selver in Tartu, and at Kaubamajakas in Pärnu. Venipak currently has 166 parcel lockers in Estonia and nearly 800 across the Baltics.
The most popular day for receiving packages is Wednesday
According to Kaldvee, customers retrieved their parcels from lockers within an average of 17 hours, with 64% of parcels collected on the same day. The busiest day for parcel pickups was Wednesday, accounting for 22% of all collections. Venipak couriers in Estonia drove over 4.4 million kilometers last year.
The most active private client ordered 26 shipments via Venipak over the year, which means more than twice a month.
A Venipak survey revealed that nearly 40% of Estonians shop online at least once a month, and 7% do so at least once a week. Women, residents of Tallinn and Tartu, and families with children under 18 are the most frequent e-shoppers.
“The most popular items sent to parcel lockers include electronics, clothing, and cosmetics. During year-end sales campaigns, home goods and products from Chinese online stores were also very popular,” added Kaldvee.
Venipak has been operating in the Estonian market since 2011 and opened its first parcel locker in Estonia in December 2022. Across the Baltic States, Venipak employs nearly 1,000 people.
