Autumn is traditionally the time when Estonians shop more online – schools have started, the holiday season is approaching, and promotions are in full swing. Ordering from an online store is often more convenient than visiting a physical shop, especially in bad weather. Venipak, one of the leading logistics companies in the Baltics with over 20 years of experience, shares tips on how to save both money and time when shopping online.
“Ordering from an online store may seem simple, but smart delivery choices can make the whole experience smoother and cheaper. Our tips help avoid hidden costs and save both your time and others’,” says Venipak CEO Andrius Ladauskas.
Venipak’s Seven Tips for Online Shopping
-
Don’t fall for “free delivery.” Often the shipping cost is simply added to the product price. Sometimes paying for delivery turns out to be the cheaper option. “During autumn and traditional ‘special offer’ periods, many e-shops offer discounted delivery, but always check whether the deal is truly beneficial for you,” explains Ladauskas.
-
Check the seller’s reliability. Review return conditions and customer feedback to avoid unpleasant surprises. Take your time – it will save you time and energy later.
-
Compare different delivery options. Parcel lockers, couriers, or both. “A courier is often more convenient, especially for larger or heavier packages. Not all items fit in standard parcel lockers, so a courier may sometimes be the only choice,” adds Ladauskas.
-
Choose a parcel locker near your workplace. It can be easier to pick up a package during your lunch break instead of making an extra stop on your way home after a long day.
-
Plan gifts in advance. If you’re ordering something for a friend or family member, choose a parcel locker near their home and bring the package along when you visit, instead of making them collect it themselves. “A friend will be much happier to see you at their door with a gift than to fetch a box from a parcel locker,” says Ladauskas.
-
Combine multiple purchases into one order. Even with free delivery, it’s more eco-friendly to order several needed items at once instead of placing multiple small orders.
-
Think carefully about courier delivery. Make sure you’ll be at home or work at the agreed time to avoid unnecessary delays. The same applies if you order a courier for someone else. “Choose the option that fits your schedule to prevent unexpected delays or needless waiting,” Ladauskas adds.
“Smart choices save money and time in a fast-paced life. With e-commerce growing rapidly, making clever delivery decisions is becoming increasingly important,” Ladauskas concludes.
