The international parcel delivery company Venipak predicts a recovery in consumer confidence in Estonia based on nearly one-fifth growth in parcel volumes. This year, Venipak has moved 19 percent more parcels and shipments in Estonia compared to last year, but in an annual comparison the parcels have lost about 16 percent of their weight.
The economic conditions of recent years have left their mark on overall consumption as well as parcel delivery. “The past period has acted like a cold shower for the market – households have had to adapt to higher taxes and changing conditions,” comments Venipak CEO Andrius Ladauskas. “But despite this headwind, I forecast a return to economic growth already at the end of this year or the beginning of 2026.”
According to Ladauskas, strong growth can already be seen: this year Venipak has moved 19 percent more parcels and shipments compared to the previous year. In Estonia, growth was highest in Tallinn (+23%), followed by Tartu (+16%) and Pärnu (+14%). Narva’s 4-percent growth was smaller compared to other cities.
While parcels are being sent more frequently, they have become lighter. According to Ladauskas, in an annual comparison parcels have lost about 16 percent of their mass.
The impact of tax increases on household budgets has now settled, and as consumer confidence is gradually recovering, this is reflected in increased purchases. “For a company like ours, this means we must be in the right place at the right time. In other words, we need to be ready to serve revived consumption and provide a reliable and efficient parcel service exactly when people start buying more again,” Ladauskas explains.
For the holiday season, Venipak’s fleet and workforce will increase by 30 percent to meet rising demand.
Customer expectations for parcel services have grown year after year. Although price still plays a role, service providers are also expected to offer flexible, data-rich solutions that allow parcels to be tracked in real time, returned without hassle if necessary, and to have a very wide parcel locker network. Venipak recently announced a partnership with uDrop to expand its parcel locker network to more than a thousand units across the Baltic states.
In Estonia, this meant a 75% expansion of the parcel locker network; in Latvia the growth was 38%, and in Lithuania 20%. Venipak also plans to implement automated and AI-enhanced solutions to plan operations more intelligently, reduce costs, and offer smoother customer service.
Venipak’s long-term strategy is to grow into a full-scale logistics company. “From non-standard parcels to value-added services, where the parcel reaches the door either the same day or the next. We aim for market segments where larger delivery companies lack flexibility,” says Venipak CEO Andrius Ladauskas.
In the Estonian market, the company’s goal for 2026 is to become the fastest-growing parcel locker service provider, and looking further ahead, Venipak aims to become the leading courier service in the entire Baltic region. “We entered the parcel locker market later than our competitors, but our growth is significant. In Lithuania we are already the second-largest home delivery provider, and in Latvia we lead the business-to-business delivery market,” Ladauskas explains, adding that each country has its own specifics and the company adapts its strategy accordingly.
