Modern logistics is no longer just about moving goods from point A to point B. Today, it is a sophisticated field shaped by technology, data analytics, and sustainability. To encourage the next generation of industry leaders, international parcel delivery company Venipak has established a named scholarship for Business Logistics students at VILNIUS TECH. This year, the scholarship was awarded to second-year student Adrija Donauskaitė.
Through this initiative, the company hopes to inspire young talent not only to pursue academic excellence, but also to challenge established industry standards and help shape the future of logistics.
Bridging the Gap Between Academia and Business
The partnership between Venipak and the Faculty of Business Management at VILNIUS TECH was born from a shared ambition to connect academic knowledge with real-world business challenges. Venipak aims not only to support students financially, but also to contribute actively to their professional development by sharing practical experience and industry insights.
“This partnership grew out of a clear understanding that businesses cannot stand aside and wait for the market to produce the specialists they need on its own. When companies get involved, they help close the gap between theory and practice and give students an earlier understanding of what the market expects from them. By sharing experience, supporting students, and demonstrating real career opportunities, companies help attract more motivated and better-prepared young professionals to the field,” says Laura Buitkuvienė, Head of Human Resources at Venipak.
Representatives of the university emphasize that close cooperation with market leaders helps keep study programmes relevant, dynamic, and aligned with the needs of employers.
“Business partners are members of our study programme committee, they deliver guest lectures, host students for internships, and take part in discussions on the competencies that need to be developed. Cooperation with companies allows us to identify market needs more precisely and prepare specialists who are ready to meet them,” says Assoc. Prof. Dr Alma Mačiulytė-Šniukienė, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Business Management at VILNIUS TECH.
Logistics Today Requires More Than Operational Skills
The EUR 1,000 scholarship awarded this year went to Adrija Donauskaitė, a second-year Business Logistics student. In choosing to support this programme, Venipak highlighted the specific competencies fostered by VILNIUS TECH, particularly the ability to understand the full supply chain and make data-driven decisions.
“Students and graduates of the Faculty of Business Management at VILNIUS TECH stand out for their analytical, process-oriented mindset, which is becoming increasingly important in modern logistics. Today, it is no longer enough simply to coordinate movement from point A to point B. The industry needs people who understand the entire supply chain, can analyse data, and know how to optimise processes,” says L. Buitkuvienė.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr Alma Mačiulytė-Šniukienė, the scholarship is intended for first- and second-year students in order to motivate them from the very beginning of their studies and help them see clear career opportunities early on.
“Scholarships established by companies, along with their involvement in the study process, increase students’ motivation and engagement. This helps them prepare for the labour market, encourages participation in projects, and gives them a closer understanding of how a specific company operates,” she says.
Recognising Ambition, Curiosity and Drive
While academic performance remains an important criterion, Venipak says the selection process also placed strong emphasis on the student’s values, motivation, and openness to innovation. The company is particularly keen to support those who are willing to think differently and contribute to more sustainable development in the sector.
“Academic achievement and motivation matter to us, but in the long run, qualities such as curiosity, responsibility, and the ambition to grow are perhaps even more important. We wanted to award this scholarship to someone who thinks beyond the obvious, is not afraid to question established standards, and brings ideas on how the sector can evolve for the better. Logistics is changing rapidly, so we value people who are eager to learn, suggest improvements, and see themselves creating more efficient, innovative, and sustainable solutions,” says L. Buitkuvienė.
This initiative reflects Venipak’s broader strategy of investing in people as a key driver of long-term business success. For the company, supporting education is not a one-off initiative, but a meaningful contribution to strengthening the country’s logistics ecosystem.
“We strive to be a reliable, innovative, and customer-focused company, so investing in the development of young professionals is a natural extension of that direction. We see support for education not as an isolated initiative, but as part of our long-term strategic commitment,” L. Buitkuvienė concludes.
