From 1 August 2026, Venipak in Lithuania is changing the standard package weight limit from 30 kg to 25 kg.*
This change is being implemented in line with employee health and safety requirements and EU legislation governing the manual handling of loads. Its purpose is to ensure safer working conditions for employees, plan additional delivery resources more accurately and maintain a high quality of service.
Your shipping process remains unchanged. Only the delivery process for heavier shipments to the recipient is changing, not their collection from the sender. As before, the sender is responsible for loading the shipment into the courier’s vehicle.
Packages up to 25 kg in Lithuania will be delivered as usual. Courier-delivered packages weighing more than 25 kg may still be shipped, but the additional 4 hands (carrying) service must be ordered if they need to be delivered to the recipient’s door. This service will be available throughout Lithuania. Until now, it was provided only in major Lithuanian cities. If this service has not been ordered, the shipment will be handed over to the recipient at the courier’s vehicle.
From 1 August 2026, parcel locker shipments in Lithuania may also weigh up to 25 kg. Shipments exceeding this limit will be automatically returned to the sender.
What you need to know:
- Packages up to 25 kg in Lithuania will be delivered as usual.
- If one package in Lithuania weighs more than 25 kg and needs to be delivered to the recipient’s door, the additional 4 hands (carrying) service must be ordered.
- If the package exceeds 25 kg but the 4 hands (carrying) service has not been ordered, the shipment will be handed over to the recipient at the courier’s vehicle, without delivery to the door.
- If the shipment is palletized, it will be delivered to the nearest location accessible by loading equipment. The 4 hands (carrying) service does not apply to palletized shipments.
- If the recipient cannot or refuses to accept the shipment at the courier’s vehicle, the shipment will be returned to the sender, and both the delivery and return services will be charged.
- Parcel locker shipments which, after weighing, are found to exceed the applicable weight limits, 25 kg in Lithuania and 30 kg in Latvia and Estonia, will be returned to the sender as non-compliant with shipment transportation rules.
- Couriers will collect shipments from the sender as usual. No separate loading service needs to be ordered, but the sender remains responsible for properly loading the shipment into the courier’s vehicle, as before.
To ensure smooth delivery, we recommend checking package weights in advance and, where possible, splitting heavier shipments into several packages, with each package not exceeding 25 kg in Lithuania or 30 kg in Latvia and Estonia.
We value our partnership and are ready to help you adapt smoothly to these changes. If you have any questions, please contact your account manager.
* This change has been prepared with reference to EU Council Directive 90/269/EEC on employee safety when manually handling loads, as well as Lithuanian occupational safety and health requirements governing the manual handling of loads.
