Dusty garages, long trips through scrapyards, and exhausting searches for car parts — for a long time, this was what the used car parts market looked like. But nine years ago, the Lithuanian startup Ovoko, better known under the name RRR.lt, changed it irreversibly. An idea born in an Excel file turned into a modern e-commerce platform for used car parts, connecting sellers and buyers across Europe. How did they make it happen?
From Scrapyard to International Platform
The story of Ovoko began back in 2016, when company founder Justinas Baranovskis bought a scrapyard and, together with colleagues, started looking for ways to catalogue the parts more clearly. The first catalogue was created in a simple Excel file — but this idea quickly grew into a platform that today connects hundreds of car parts sellers and millions of buyers in 25 European countries.
“At first, we were looking for a solution to help one scrapyard work more efficiently, but we soon realized that the whole market needed such a convenient tool. Today, Ovoko helps sellers move their car parts and buyers — easily find and purchase them online,” says Ovoko’s CEO Saulius Česnulevičius.
Over nine years, the company has become one of the market leaders in Europe. The key turning points were investments that allowed the team to expand, improve the product, and strengthen its position abroad.
“The first investment enabled us to start hiring employees and to create the kind of product we see today. The Series A investment in 2022 was another crucial step — our team grew by more than a hundred people, and we began actively investing in marketing and expansion in Western Europe, becoming not only a Lithuanian but a truly international product. Last year, we reached yet another stage — the Series B investment opened up opportunities to innovate even more. Each investment brought new challenges, but also allowed us to move to a new, higher level,” says Česnulevičius.
Connecting Buyers and Sellers Across Europe
Ovoko’s advantage lies in the ability to find a wide range of used car parts from different European countries in one place. Buyers can choose from tens of millions of parts at lower prices and conveniently buy them online — just as it has become common with many other goods.
Meanwhile, sellers appreciate that their goods can easily be sold throughout Europe. Moreover, they don’t have to worry about customer service or order preparation themselves.
“In each country, the car fleet differs, but we connect scrapyards from various regions, so buyers get a unique opportunity to choose from millions of parts. In addition, we offer sellers warehouse management and sales solutions that help their businesses grow with us. We test everything in our M7 laboratory in Kuprioniškės, where we prepare parts ourselves and look for ways to make processes even more efficient,” explains Česnulevičius.
Logistics Also Matters for Business Growth
When developing a car parts business, logistics also play a major role — speed, price, convenience, and variety of delivery options directly determine customer satisfaction.
“Efficient logistics are an essential part of our platform. Even the best part loses its value if you have to wait too long for it, especially when a car needs urgent repair. Convenience also matters to clients — the ability to choose delivery to home, workplace, parcel locker, or pickup point,” says Ovoko’s Logistics Optimization Manager Vilius Pavilionis.
According to him, to meet these customer expectations, Ovoko started cooperating with the delivery company Venipak.
“Venipak has strong infrastructure in the Baltic states — the region where Ovoko’s journey began. Even though we’re expanding across Europe, the Baltics remain a very important region for us. We strive to provide the best possible experience for both buyers and sellers, so when working with logistics partners, we value flexibility, reliability, and a good price-to-quality ratio. The Venipak team responds quickly to problems, offers flexible solutions, and constantly works to improve cooperation — this contributes to our business growth,” emphasizes Pavilionis.
He adds that it’s important for the company that logistics partners not only fulfill delivery commitments properly but also understand specific business needs.
“Logistics is quite a mature industry, so we truly value having partners who understand the potential Ovoko is creating for Lithuania and all of Europe, and who can adapt to our changing needs. For us — a fast-growing business working with various types of shipments — this is especially important,” Pavilionis shares.
Future Plans — Even Greater Expansion in Europe
Česnulevičius says that the company is currently in a stage of innovation and long-term investment — aiming to create new, innovative solutions that will help the business grow.
“We do face challenges — all our solutions are paving a new path, and we’re trying to create things that don’t yet exist in the market. That’s why we test a lot, and only by trying innovations will we know what truly works and what doesn’t. But we move forward boldly — because only this way can we create something that truly brings value not only to our buyers or sellers but to the entire European used car parts market,” says Česnulevičius.
The Ovoko leadership agrees that the greatest potential lies in European countries. The company already helps scrapyards from various nations transition to online trade and, in the future, plans to work even more actively with the B2B segment.
“The used parts market has huge potential. We see that we can help even more sellers move into the digital space and reach buyers all over Europe. At the same time, we focus strongly on B2B clients — service centers, workshops, and businesses looking for fast-delivered, high-quality, and affordable parts. Our goal is for Ovoko to become an even broader, even more convenient platform that creates value for everyone in the chain,” summarizes Česnulevičius.
